Design and manufacture of gas and petroleum reservoir simulator
Researchers at the Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy Engineering at Amirkabir University of Technology have succeeded in designing and constructing gas and petroleum reservoir simulators.
According to Amirkabir University Public Relations Department, the executive director of the research project said: “This device can be used to simulate the process of oil and gas extraction, the reservoir conditions, and the changes occurring during 20 to 30 years of extraction for the management of these resources. ” Hadi Atapour added: “Examining ways to increase the efficiency of reservoirs, studying problems during oil and gas extraction, evacuation of oil and gas reservoirs and water or gas injection into reservoirs are the other possibilities that can be simulated with this device.
He mentioned that the device has been designed and manufactured for the first time in the country and that its production took about 4 years.
Atapour added: “Using this device, oil reservoirs at depths of 2,000 to 3,000 meters can be simulated and different scenarios governing oil and gas reservoirs can be studied and the data can be analyzed by the soft wares.”
