Due to market demand and given AUT’s prestigious image amongst the Iranian industry professionals and practitioners, a group of university’s experienced academics (under the supervision of Dr Mohammad Hassan Sebt) took a bold step forward to educate, train and encourage the next generation of executives, entrepreneurs and engineers.
The outcome was the university’s first MBA program defined and launched in 2007. Four years later, the university created the Department of Management, Science and Technology (DMST), offering MBA, MSc (Philosophy of Science, Industrial Design and Future Studies), and PhD (Future Studies) degrees. In 2013, the first accredited international MBA (in English) was also launched with the aim to attract international applicants from the region and beyond. Today, DMST takes research-oriented approach in education and problem-oriented approach in research and contributes to strategic decisions across government and industrial sectors.

Our research addresses national management agendas, including international technology transfer, marketing strategy, branding, risk management, industrial policy, innovation strategy and firm level consultancy. We work closely with governmental agencies as well as the private sector. We provide professional services to a broad range of industrial sectors including power plant equipment, car industry, ICT, and urban management, to name a few.
The MBA program is carried out based on an innovative and top level course designs and attracts many students and practitioners from diverse educational backgrounds and practical settings. Being offered for seven consecutive years, the MBA of Amirkabir University has become a renowned brand and educational triumph at both national and international scales. MBA courses are designed to meet the latest theories and case studies and also nuanced in light of Iranian business environment.
The AUT’s MBA is a full-time program and comprises 16 subjects, including 10 core (30 credits) and 6 electives (18 credits), which can be taken as a minor specialization. The MBA attracts applicants with a diverse range of professional experience and from a multiplicity of practical fields (mostly technologists and engineers). The key mission aims to provide a mix of theory and hands-on practice, ensuring that our MBA courses and thoughts are not only relevant in a competitive global environment, but immediately applicable to the Iranian marketplace. To further ensure that our MBA is of the highest quality possible, DMST has established valuable academic and industry links, inviting qualified and experienced lecturers from within and outside the university.
